Google Shopping request configuration

As the usual GTIN/EAN search no longer works on Google Shopping, additional data is required for this channel in order to achieve precise results. Depending on the data situation, there are two different options:

  • Search by "Deeplink" as a unique identifier (recommended)

  • Search by product name with additional attributes

The variant used is automatically selected for each article depending on the data situation, with the Deeplink variant being the preferred one.

In order to obtain optimum results, the data used should be prepared using data fields and assigned once in the mask.

The following section explains which data fields need to be assigned and how the data can be optimally prepared.

Deeplink search (recommended)

The Deeplink search only works with a Deeplink to a product that is actively listed on Google Shopping. It is the standard variant and achieves the best results. The Deeplink ensures that your listed product is found and that your direct competitors are included.

For this variant to work, the following data fields must be assigned in the mask:

  • GTIN / EAN (mandatory field): Enter the data field which contains the GTIN or EAN of the product to be searched for.

  • Product name (mandatory field): This data field should be composed so that it contains the brand, product name and up to three of the product's most important attributes.

    • Example: "Nike, Heritage tracksuit, men, blue, XL".

      • Tip: Enter your product name on Google Shopping and check the results to get a feel for the correct structure of the product name.

  • Deeplink (mandatory field): Deeplink that you send to Google Shopping and that refers to your webshop. It is used as a unique identifier to uniquely identify your product on Google Shopping and to retrieve the correct price data.

  • Size (optional): This data field helps to distinguish between different variants of a product on Google Shopping. This is mainly the case for clothing. The size value should ideally reflect the size filters of Google Shopping, e.g. "39" instead of "39EU".

Click on the data field selector and select the correct data field.

If an article that is queried does not contain a deep link, the system automatically switches to the product name search. This should be avoided in the grouped request with an appropriate filter that ensures that the assigned data fields are filled.

Once the Deeplink search has been successful (i.e. the product was queried, was actively listed on Google Shopping at the time and price data was found), it is no longer necessary for the product to be actively listed in the next query.

Product name search

This search variant is not as precise as the Deeplink search. There is no clear identification of the product, which means that prices for a different product may be retrieved.

It is therefore not recommended for automatic repricing and is only an alternative if no Deeplink is available.

For this variant, the following fields must be assigned in the mask:

  • GTIN / EAN (mandatory field): Enter the data field which contains the GTIN or EAN of the product to be searched for.

  • Product name (mandatory field): This data field should be composed so that it contains the brand, product name and up to three of the product's most important attributes.

    • Example: "Nike, Heritage tracksuit, men, blue, XL".

      • Tip: Enter your product name on Google Shopping and check the results to get a feel for the correct structure of the product name.

  • Price (mandatory field): Used to filter the result to narrow it down. It must contain the price without currency, e.g. "39.99" instead of "39.99 EUR".

  • Manufacturer (mandatory field): Used to filter the result in order to narrow it down. It must contain the brand of the product.

  • Size (optional): This data field helps to distinguish between different variants of a product on Google Shopping. This is mainly the case for clothing. The size value should ideally reflect the size filters of Google Shopping, e.g. "39" instead of "39EU".

Click on the data field selector and select the correct data field.
