Format Category Paths

Specify the format of your category paths

You are here: Start -> Settings -> Manage categories

In order for Channel Pilot Pro to create a category tree, the format of the category paths from your product catalog must be specified. If no data is displayed yet, check if the data field "Categories" is assigned in the data field assignment.

  1. Specify the format of your product catalog under "Adjust format". Here you will find the following setting options.

    • Separator: Select the character used to separate subcategories from supercategories in your catalog.

      • Example: Category path is Electronics > TV > Plasma. The separator is therefore greater-than sign (>).

    • Separate multiple categories: If you offer an item in multiple categories, the separation of the different category paths must be specified. Choose the appropriate character here.

      • Example: Category paths are "Electronics>TV>Accessories,Accessories>TV". Separation is done by comma (,).

    • Case sensitive: Here you can define whether Channel Pilot Pro should be case sensitive when building the category tree.

      • Example: If "yes" is selected, then the categories electronics and electronic will be treated as two different categories.

  2. Now click on "Load category preview tree" and check if the preview of your category tree is correct.

    • only a part of the category tree is generated for the preview

  3. If the category tree is displayed correctly, click on "Save settings".

After your complete category tree is loaded, you can manage your categories across your entire store. For more information read Manage Categories.
